Californication: Texas is the Most Effective Destination State for Californians

American residents are quite well known to be some of the most mobile people all over the globe. And Californians maintain status on the top of the list, with more than half a million of them moving to several States about two years ago. But, the Golden State has always excelled as an attraction to the rest of the states, if not the whole world, and this is one of the primary reasons why its real estate market is increasing as days go by and getting a lot more expensive annually. It is because of the fact that the demand is translated into higher prices and stiff competition.

Despite the significant exodus that occurred, the State of California has taken the third place in terms of the number of newcomers welcomed last year, with Florida and of course, Texas on top of the list, with a little over half a million new residents. Included, and with the most represented group are former Washingtonians, where about 38,000 of them makes up 8% of newcomers. But you know, not all things are created equal, and some portions of California are a lot more enticing as compared to others. Ten countries make up for ¾ of the influx of population, of course, with LA county enticing more than 100k new residents only last year.

On the other hand, California also receives a lot more new residents,  from outside of the United States, specifically from Asia, Africa, Central America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

But despite the stellar record, why do Californians tend to leave the state?

Americans have always been economically wiser, and always depending on moving and its mobility when they are on the verge of looking for other opportunities. Whether getting a better property or engaging in more specialized academic opportunities, entertainment, culture, or any other type of reason, moving gives people the liberty of choice in terms of living in a place that satisfies their preferences.

Californians have been recognized to be the most mobile of all Americans, with several hundred thousand of them leaving the Golden State on a yearly basis. Among the significant reasons why a lot of Californians decide to pick their bars and move to other parts of America is because of housing and the cost of living. According to a study made by Yardi Matrix data, the cost of rental charges in the State of California is around $3700 in the San Francisco Area, $2500 in the Los Angeles Area, and $2700 in San Jose. To tell you the truth, a recent survey by Edelman Intelligence claims that more than 50% of Californians are thinking of moving out of state because of the soaring cost of living, while close to 75% of the residents consider that the availability of a place and its cost is a significant problem for them. This housing crisis threatens the State of California’s economy and may lead to probable issues.

Another quandary that the residents of California are facing is the rocket high taxes. California State Taxes are said to be considered as one of the highest in the whole of the United States. According to a guide to California’s State taxes commissioned by The Balance, the state-level sales tax rates are still the highest in the United States for the last two (2) years at 7.25%. Integrated with local sales, the rate can actually reach a high of ten (10) percent in some cities in the Golden State. California has also some of the highest rates of income tax all over the United States, which ranges from 0 to 13.3 percent for the last two years. But, ironically, the property taxes ranked as 16th lowest in the country, with an effective rate of 0.76% in contrast with the national average of 1.1%. This I the reason why states with low tax burdens are enticing plenty of Californians.

But where do Californians move? The interstate migration route enticed people is from California to the State of Texas. Five counties in California emerges as the top movers in Texas. Based on statistics, almost 90,000 people opted to relocate from the State of California to the tax-free State of Texas. Arizona takes the next spot as the most hospitable state, with almost 70,000 Californian newcomers, followed by Washington with 55,000 movers.

The cost of relocating from California. When talking about the most expensive migration, Californians hit the top list over and over again. One route that is highly regarded as expensive is from California to the State of Colorado, for which one has to pay an amount ranging from $3500-4500. In contrast, it is not a famous migration route, with only a little over 22,000 people moving annually. Idaho is also an expensive route from California while Illinois is in the $3600 range.

It just goes out to show that wherever you are, the best place to live is in the State of Texas. Whether you are from California or elsewhere, you can maximize the benefits of moving into the State of Texas. Its tax-free condition, the sceneries, the people, and of course, the culture. Nothing beats the best.
